Independent practice / 15+ years
I’m Shone Satheesh, a New York-based filmmaker, journalist, photographer and visual researcher with over 15 years of experience.
My work moves between documentary filmmaking, investigative and explanatory journalism, and photography. I’m interested in the histories beneath everyday life: how political economy shapes places, how archives complicate the present, and how people make meaning through culture and food.
Across films, visual essays, maps and photographs, research is a starting point. My practice brings together writing, archival work, shooting, producing and editing. I also photograph on 35mm and 120 film.
